Brenda Barker Scholarship

The Designing Women Foundation (DWF) scholarship program in general is designed to promote educational opportunities for women who are residents of Southeast Missouri. The scholarships are need-based and are designed to encourage and challenge women to assume leadership roles and professional positions in a variety of careers.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be given in honor of the late Brenda Bloodworth Barker by her family and will be administered by DWF. Ms. Barker was a lifelong Butler County resident and practiced cosmetology for 30 years before retiring. Scholarship winners may use their awards to cover cosmetology program tuition, fees and books at the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center or at the Blackwood Beauty School in Pocahontas, Ark.
Eligibility Requirements:
 Must be female
 Must enroll as a full-time student in cosmetology program
 Must have high-school diploma or GED.
Applications Due: Aug. 15, 2014
Award Made: September 2014 (after program enrollment is verified)
