The Power of the Purse
Power of the Purse, scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2022, is an annual fundraising event. Celebrity purses, new purses, and gently used purses are offered through a silent auction format during a tea from 2:00-4:00 at the Bloodworth House. Tickets for the event are $15.00, and each attendee receives a China cup and saucer, delectable tea party refreshments, and the chance to purchase one-of-a-kind purses during a relaxing, social afternoon. At the 2022 Power of the Purse, a special tribute is planned to honor long-time Designing Women Foundation member Evelyn Whitworth.
Celebrity Purses
Past celebrity purses that have been auctioned were donated by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, Jean Smart, Annie Potts, Dixie Carter, Patricia Heaton, Kaley Cuoco, and Delta Burke. Many of these purses are autographed on the inside lining or include personal hand-written notes.
Tickets may be purchased at Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelry, Hefner Furniture, or from any Designing Women Foundation board member. Business and individual sponsorships are available for $200.00 and includes 2 tickets and advertising at the Power of the Purse event.
